Most tree and shrub problems take hold in plants that are already stressed. So the program works both sides: it feeds the plants to keep them vigorous, and it applies timed, targeted protection against the pests and diseases the region throws at them, with horticulturists watching for anything the schedule would miss.

A balanced feeding supports strong spring growth. Vigorous, well-fed trees and shrubs resist insects and disease on their own, which is the whole point of feeding before trouble arrives.

As insects and disease become active, protective rounds target the chewing and sucking pests and the foliar diseases most common to the region, keeping the leaves healthy through the growing season.

The program protects trees and shrubs against foliar insects and diseases, and it does not pretend to cover everything. Woody plants over twenty feet in height are handled separately, and trunk-boring insects and root diseases are diagnosed and quoted case by case rather than treated on the standard rounds, so you always know exactly what the program includes.

Which plants does the program cover?
The program cares for your trees and shrubs against the insects and diseases that damage foliage, the leaves and new growth. It is aimed at the ornamentals and woody plants that make up most commercial plantings. Woody plants more than twenty feet in height are not included in the program; larger trees are handled case by case rather than on the standard rounds.
What problems does it actually prevent?
Common regional pressures: scale and overwintering insects knocked back by the dormant oil, and the chewing and sucking insects, mites, and foliar diseases, things like leaf spot and fungus, that show up as the season warms. Healthy, well-fed plants resist all of these better, which is why feeding is built into the program alongside the protective rounds.
What is not included?
The program targets insects and diseases that cause foliar (leaf) damage. Some problems fall outside it: trunk-boring insects such as ambrosia beetles and borers, and root diseases, are excluded from the standard rounds. If we find one, we diagnose it, explain the options and cost, and get your approval before treating, the same way we handle any problem outside a program.
